Rocmec Mining![]() VAUQUELINThe Vauquelin project is located approximately 40 km east of Val d’Or, Quebec and in proximity to the “Denain” property. The property includes two contiguous mining claims covering an area of 32 hectares and situated on a gold-bearing quartz vein system discovered in the early 1930s. The property was briefly explored during the 1930 and 1940s, but the overall potential remains largely unknown. The geology consists of a complex assemblage of felsic tuffs and felsic to intermediate fragmental intrusives trending east-west, with a subvertical dip. Grab samples have indicated some interesting ore grades and gold is mostly found as free gold associated with quartz carbonate veins filling the fractures. Rocmec’s recent outlook for the project consists of continuing its exploration programme primarily through mechanical stripping and channel sampling, at which point the decision will be made to undertake small-scale selective mining using thermal fragmentation technology. |
