ROCMEC UNVEILS ITS NEW UNDERGROUND 75 TPD TREATMENT PLANT
Pointe-Claire, Quebec, August 8th, 2008 – Rocmec Mining inc. (TSX-V Symbol: RMI - FSE Symbol: D5O), is pleased to announce the unveiling of its new underground 75 tpd treatment plant. The unveiling took place during a joint press conference with Béroma Industries (Béroma) on August 7th, 2008 at Béroma’s head office located in Val-d’Or, Quebec.
The following text was prepared and presented at the press conference by the RSW-Béroma team:
“We are very proud to unveil a brand new concept of modular gold concentrate treatment plants – the UMCO 75 F” stated Mr. Laurent Bérubé, president of Beroma.”
“Fruit of many years of research in partnership with the RSW group and Béroma and the development phase with Rocmec Mining Inc., this concept is a viable solution for small scale mining. The whole team worked tirelessly on this new concept of modular treatment plants that has a capacity of 75 metric tonnes per day.” added Mr. Bérubé
With the thermal fragmentation mining method developed by Rocmec Mining Inc. gold is extracted directly and solely from within the vein. The size of the feed ore will range from 0 – 3 inches (0 – 75mm) then ground to obtain a granulometry of 80% passing 200 mesh that will supply a series of flotation cells and a gravimetric concentrator in order to obtain a high-grade gold ore concentrate that will then be refined by a specialised company. This technology is supported by an understanding of the metallurgy of the ore which allows for constant control and sequential analysis of the different parameters of the process.
“A truly new innovation” in the mining industry, the UMCO 75 F will be installed underground at the Rocmec 1 mine site, near Rouyn-Noranda. This modular plant requires only one specialised mining technician to operate. Moreover, its automation allows to gather production data and adjust the parameters in order to maximize performance. This new concept has many advantages: easy to install, fully automated, mobile and especially profitable. RSW-Béroma Inc. and Béroma Industries plan to commercialize the UMCO 75 F concept to junior as well as major mining companies that wish to validate the grades of certain ore deposits. Targeted markets include South and Central America, West Africa and certain projects in Canada.
“With this type of project, partnerships are important” stated Mr. Donald Brisebois, president and CEO of Rocmec. “The project was completely financed through the private sector. It is quite evident that the current price of gold favours the development of the UMCO 75 F. The combination of thermal fragmentation and the UMCO 75 F is a winning receipt, both projects are very complementary.”
“No doubt this project has a very promising future” concluded Mr. Bérubé
